yeah I haven't been on xanga in quite some time. I've been a little busy lately. It hasn't been a priority really.  I've been doing my teaching thing and my classes thing and so many other things!

Friday was girl's night!! wow! what can I say? it was amazing. We had about 30 girls show up (i had no idea how much to expect) and many were new to the BSM or I just didn't know really so that was awsome. It was so good to get to spend time with some amazing ladies doing everything from mattress surfing (its probably not what you think but man is it fun!) to having really great discussion about the Lord and what He has done in our lives. There was even a witnessing opportunity that presented itself and through that I got to meet a freshman who is crazy on fire for God. She got to share Christ with her suitemate and it was rockin. There was also discussion between between older members of the BSM and new freshman. This is so great. Through one of these girls I could really see myself when I was a freshman. I didn't know anything about doctrine or theology or anything like that. I didn't really read the Bible a whole lot or even really know how or where to start BUT I was excited. I was passionate and on fire for God in a way that I haven't really been since. Proverbs 19:2 says,

" It is not good to have zeal without knowledge,
nor to be hasty and miss the way. "

but it also says in Romans 12:11,

"Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord."

So yeah the knowledge that I've gained in the Lord the last couple of years is really awsome and I praise Him for that but its also good to just be excited about Jesus. It was so cool to see this girl who was kinda like "hey i don't know much about doctrine or theology or these kinds of things but I know that God is awsome and I've seen Him do great things" and who was just so passionate about Him and sharing His Gospel with others! Praise the Lord! It reminds me too of a girl I met in Bulgaria who like didn't know anything about church strategies and "the way" that you do ministry neccasarily like we do in the states but she said, "we just love Jesus and read His word together and worship Him together." Its really that simple. Just something interesting to me...

and who could talk about Girl's Night w/o mentioning our Nikki. She's wonderful. I love how she calls us all little sisters. :) She talked about being driven by feelings or faith. wow. just awsome.

we may have to have another one of these girl's things...

okay so maybe I can't make pancakes but I do make a mean pasta if I say so myself. I mean yeah pasta is easy, right? but still... Megan showed up yesterday with a George Forman grill. yay!! and we decided to make chicken. She decided hers should go in a salad. I didn't know what to eat with mine but decided perhaps some green beans and maybe mac n cheese (5 boxes for 2 dollars at shop n save. how great is that?) or something. Then I saw a little recipe on the can of green beans for fettecine alfredo with chicken and green beans and I thought to myself "why not?" and so I made it and it was delicious. Just ask Megan she tried and she agreed that it was pretty much amazing.

what a relief. I was about to give up cooking forever.

well people I've decided I'm pretty much pathetic. I mean I've never really done much cooking so I knew I wasn't an amazing chef or anything but... well.... this morning I tried to make pancakes. I've never made pancakes before but they should be pretty easy right? I mean you just add water to the mix I bought and throw em in a skillet right? well.... it took me quite a few tries before getting what could probably be called pancakes. They didn't taste all that bad either.. if you could get past the burnt top layer. For those of you that were at Tony Kleeman's for his b-day last year you know what i'm talking about. I made just about the worst brownies ever. You couldn't cut the bottom layer at all and the top part was soft but tasted like garbage. Don't get me wrong I can make a pretty good hamburger helper and different kinds of pastas and cookies. However, I would love to be able to make a simple pancake! oh the frustration!

anybody up for having a pancake party and teaching me to make good ones?
